I can...

I can do all sorts of things.
  • I have been able to open doors for a while, unless Mom put one of the funny white things on the door.  I hate that.
  • I can say my name - I point to myself in the mirror or in a picture and say "Gen".  I also point to Mom, Dad, Baby, Mama (grandma), and Gmpa (grandpa) and say their names, also.  I really like to look at picturs of myself and people I know.  When we get to daycare, I call her "Na-Nee"
  • I can get into the car when Mom pushes the button and the door opens.
  • I can open the fridge and pantry to look for a snack or drink when I am hungry.
  • I am really good at helping Mom do laundry.  She will hand me clothes, lift me up and I put them in the washer.  Also, when she is folding clothes I take them out of the laundry basket and give them to Mom.
  • I can throw the ball really good, and sometimes I even catch it.
  • I can get my favorite books off of the shelf and take them to Mom to read to me.  I can also turn pages.  My favorite books are the ones with the animals (Mom and I make funny animal sounds), and my book about Man (Mom calls him Spider Man).
  • I can blow bubbles if Mom gives me the right blower for bubbles.
  • I can play guitar with Daddy.  Mostly I just dance when he plays guitar, though.
I was really, really sick a couple of weeks ago.  Mom had to take me to the doctor and I was so hot.  I got to eat a lot of medicine, though (I like the taste of it).  Also, I got to snuggle extra with Mom.  I felt so sick I had trouble falling asleep.  Mom would hold me in the rocking chair until I fell asleep.  Even when I was feeling better, I wanted Mom to hold me a lot.  I really like that.  Now I like to play again more, and just get some hugs from Mom.

Sometimes when I want something and Mom won't let me have it I get really mad.  I stomp my feet on the group and yell.  I used to lay on the floor and scream, but that didn't get me what I wanted, so I started doing this instead.  I'll have to see if it works.

This picture was taken before I got my hair cut.  Mom says I need another hair cut again.

My pants used to fall down all the time.  I would get frustrated when I was walking.  Mom made me two belts that help hold my pants up.  It's pretty awesome.

More videos

I am such a good big brother.  I always know when my sister needs hugs and kisses, like when she is sleeping or when Mom is feeding her.  Sometimes I even hold her.  I sit on the couch and tell Mom that I want to hold my sister.  Mom puts her on my lap and I hug her.  When I am done, I get up and leave sister there for Mom to pick up.

I can do all sorts of things.  For example, check out my new dance moves and me playing in one of my favorite toys:

I also am an expert at opening all kinds of doors, doing laundry with Mom, and shooting basket balls.

I now get to go play with other kids most days while Mom is at work.  We sing songs, read books, eat lunch, and take naps.  Then Mom comes and picks me up.

Dad is gone a lot of the time now and I really miss playing with him.  Sometimes I have trouble sleeping unless I get some time to play with Dad and he reads me some stories before bed.  I sure love my dad.

Growing Up

I am becoming all grown up.  I have a little sister now.  I call her "baby" or sometimes "Sase".  I am really good at giving her hugs and kisses.  When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is ask Mom where baby is.  I just know that she likes the same things I do.  I try to give her a ball or one of my crackers or some water from my cup, but Mom always stops me.  I don't think Mom knows what baby likes as much as me.

I am also getting really good at eating all by myself.  I can use a spoon to eat mashed potatoes, yogurt, cottage cheese, oatmeal and pudding really well.  Sometimes I try to grab Mom's fork to help me eat other things like hot dogs, too.  When I drop something, I just pick it up and put it back on my spoon or eat it right out of my fingers.  I am also really good with a cup, even if has no straw or lid.  Mom only lets me drink from a cup when I am in the kitchen, though.

Sometimes I like to climb.  When we go to the playground, I like to climb the ladders.  We don't have ladders at home, so I have to find other things to climb.  When I woke up one morning and Mom wasn't home, I decided to practice climbing in my room.  I pulled the drawers open in my dresser and climbed on those.  Then a scary thing happened - my dresser tipped over.  I called out for help and Daddy came and rescued me.  I haven't tried to do that again since.  It sure was scary.

Grandparents Houses

I love going to both my grandparents' houses. At one house, there is this really awesome tractor. Grandpa says that it's Grandma's, but I know that he really built for me. I always find it and climb in and drive it, and I never see Grandma drive it. The wheel turns and it rocks. It's so cool. I also climb up the ladder to go down the slide, and I swing on the swing at Grandpa's house.
I really love balls and I love to throw balls into baskets. When we go to other grandpa's house, sometimes I get to go outside and Dad helps me with the really big basket.
Because I am so good with the big basket at Grandpa's house, Mom and Dad got me a little basket of my own. I practice so much. Grandpa says that I am going to grow up to be a basketball player. Sometimes I practice slam-dunking the ball and sometimes I make sure I am standing on the rug a few feet away and throw the ball into the basket. That one's harder, but I am getting really good at it. The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning or after a nap is look for my ball. Grandpa says I need a lot of practice if I am going to play in the NBA.
I am so good at helping Mom around the house. When she gives me things to put in the trash, I know exactly where they go. Sometimes she gives me other things to put in the sink and I know where those ones go, too. I also like to help her put the laundry in the washer, but I can't reach it very well and Mom sometimes has to help me. I am also really good at telling Mom when I need things. When I have a poopy bum, I go to Mom, point to my diaper and say "tash". Then she knows she needs to change my bum and she lets me put the poopy diaper in the trash. That's my favorite part. When I need other things, I grab Mom's finger and try to pull her to what I need. Sometimes I need juice out of the fridge or to go outside to play. I tell her when I want some food by making the sign for food. When she tells me to get my shoes so we can go outside I know right where my shoes are and I pick them up and bring them to Mom. I am really good at talking with Mom right now.

Mom, Dad, and I go on a walk every day. Mom is really slow to walk with right now, though. I don't know why. I just like to go outside so much. On really fun days Mom takes me outside with my little blue car and rides the car with me. It's hard to fit on the car with Mom, because she has a really big tummy right now, but she drives the car outside better than I do. I like to ride the car in the house, too, when Mom doesn't ride it outside with me.

I now sleep in a different room, but it's okay. I can still look out the window when I want to. I just stand up on my bed when I want to look out.

Vocabulary

I have been developing quite an extensive vocabulary lately. Mom is learning to understand me better, although she is still sometimes confused. Here are some translations of my most favorite words, so if I am talking to you, you can know what I am saying:
  • Dadadad = Dad
  • No = nose
  • Bhah = ball or balloon
  • Taz = trash
  • Pih = pickle
  • Dah = dog
  • Bur = bird
  • Buh = book
Those are my favorite words, but I am learning others, too.

Mom is now home with me almost all of the time. We have so much fun together. We go on walks in the stroller every day (except sometimes when it is raining), she reads me lots of books, and we play with my green ball. I also get to play outside a lot more, too. It is so much fun.

I really like to help my mom by putting trash where it goes. I know where all of the trash cans in the house are. If Mom or Dad gives me something to put in the trash, I know exactly where it goes. Sometimes I pick up stuff on my own that is garbage and tell Mom I am going to put it in the trash and she tries to take it from me. Sometimes I get mad about it, because I really want to help and I like to throw trash away.

Nap time and play time

It is so light outside now when Mom puts me down for bed. Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep, but I know exactly what to do. I do what Mom does: tell stories and sometimes sing songs. Even though Mom and Dad aren't in the room, I sing songs to myself and sometimes tell myself good night stories. Then I am able to fall asleep.

I went to the doctor today and they gave me more shots. They hurt, but I am brave and only cried for a couple of minutes. Mom talked to the doctor a lot while I played with his toys. I figured out how to use the doctor's toy. It has a light on it and you put it in your ear. I was putting it in my ear on my own without his help. I don't know why he likes to put it in my ear, but it was fun. I get to run around in my diaper at the doctor's and I like that, too.

Now when Mommy and Daddy are at work or school Aunt Jenny comes to take care of me. She is really fun, because she takes me on walks all the time. Walks are my favorite. Jenny knows what I like to eat and when to put me down for a nap. She plays with me and my toys and calls me "Boo". I know my name is really Logan, though. She is silly. Sometimes I miss playing with the other kids when Mom and Dad are gone, but Jenny is really fun. Now sometimes when I go to church I get to play with the toys and eat treats, too, when Mom and Dad teach the bigger kids. I sometimes don't like it when I have to share toys, though, and sometimes I scream about it. When Mom and Dad don't teach the bigger kids I get to hang out with them all day.

I really like cats. I went to Uncle Jared's house the other day and played with his cat. I like his cat, because he doesn't scratch me or scare me. He lets me touch his face and back. As long as I touch softly, he doesn't run away from me. Grandpa's dog is like that, too. I love to play with the dog. I really like animals.

I have four more teeth coming in right now. Mom says that's why I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night and need a bit of snuggling to go back to sleep. These teeth are big and it hurts sometimes, but I am brave and don't cry very much about it. Mostly when I am awake I am playing and it I don't notice my teeth too much. I bet that I will really be able to bite things even better when they are done coming in.

Whenever Mom opens the fridge, I always run over and try to grab my favorite snack: pickles. I know just what the jar looks like and where Mom usually puts it. Sometimes she tries to hide it behind something else, but I can always find it. Mom says she thinks I am weird for liking pickles, but she eats them all of the time. I don't think she can tease me about it if she does it, too.

My favorite thing to do is to go outside with Mom and Dad. Last week there were a lot of days when we couldn't go outside very much. It was really cold. Sometimes they let me go outside anyway, and I got rained on or snowed on. Sometimes Dad took me outside I got to play in the snow, but Mom doesn't usually let me. She says it's too cold. I like to pick up the snow and eat it. I like to eat ice cubes, too. Snow is harder to eat. Today the snow was gone again, and I went to pick flowers instead. Sun, rain, or snow, I like to be outside.

I had fun today with mom when she was making the bed. I can crawl up on her tall bed all by myself. Today Mom and I had a pillow fight and she let me jump on the bed. We both like to flop down onto the pillows and then laugh. Pillow fights are fun with dad, too, but I am not as good at throwing the pillows as dad is.

The start of my blog

Hmmm...what did I do today?

I am getting so good at getting to new places in the house. I have learned how to get onto the daybed by using the drawer of the daybed as a stool to climb up. I also know how to use the chairs in the kitchen to climb up onto the table. Today I climbed onto the kitchen table when Dad wasn't looking. I found this thing that when I shook it spread white tasty crystals all over the table. I ate a lot of them. I wanted to play with more of it on the table, but it had a lid on it. I figured out how to take the lid off and then I was able to put this fun stuff all over the table and the floor. That's when Dad caught me. I think he was mad about it, because now there is a wall keeping me out of the kitchen. I can't explore nearly as much as I used to. Also, dad taped the drawers of the day bed shut so I can't use them to climb up when he is working or playing on the computer. All I want to do is to eat the earphones, but Dad won't let me. Is that too much to ask?

Dad and I have been spending a lot of time together lately. When I start getting whiny, he puts me in my crib and I get a nap. Then I am a lot happier. Today I explored outside in the rain in my jammies with my daddy. It was fun to pull on the neighbor's flowers, look at a sprinkler head, and getting a taste of dead leaves. My favorite time is when I get to go outside. When I want to go out and play I go to the door and try to open it, but I can't turn the handle, so I call to Mom and Dad to let me out. Sometimes they do, but sometimes they just give me a different toy to play with.

I got a cool new story book in San Francisco. I can't really understand any of the words yet, but it's really fun to lift and bend the flaps and the pages. I have been really happy. I love my mom and dad so much.

Dad's been giving me these new play toy cup things. They have straws in them. They are really fun to throw on the ground and poor milk out of, but I don't like to eat out of them as much as a bottle. I really like to eat out of a bottle, but I can't find them anymore. I think Mom hid them. If I keep looking maybe I will be able to find one.

Till next time.
Love,
Logan
